West University Place – May 17, 2021 - In lieu of the annual Park Lovers’ Ball, the Friends of West University Parks Fund hosted their first Park Lovers’ Golf Ball Tournament and Auction on April 16, 2021 at Wildcat Golf Club raising $133,000 for West U parks.. Cochaired by Sami and Jud Morrison and Christine and Owen Parker, the event included an afternoon of golf, a raffle, an online silent auction and a whiskey putt that gave participants the opportunity to win coveted whiskeys. The organization, dedicated to raising funds for
the community’s parks and green spaces, is grateful for the generosity of the sponsors and donors who made the event a success, including Head Pro sponsor Rani Puranik.
Premium level sponsors for this first-time event were: Kristine Martinez, Realtor, Martha Turner Sotheby’s International; Kirkland & Ellis; Jane and Harry Pefanis; BB&T now Truist/Brannon Fitch; and Lloyd Engineering.

About Friends:
The Friends of West University Parks Fund is a volunteer based 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to raising funds for the renovation, development and improvement of parks and green spaces in the neighborhood parks of the City of West University Place. The board is appointed by City Council and raises money through foundation grants, citizens’ bequests, memorials, special events and various other programs and events including partnerships with local businesses.
