Our Parks

The Friends of West University Parks Fund (Friends) is a volunteer-based 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to raising funds for West University Place parks including improvement of parks and green spaces in the City of West University Place.  See the list of parks below and view the park map. To see where the parks are located, please view the Map of West U Park Locations.


Colonial Park

4130 Byron (3.16 acres)

Established 1937



  • Family Oriented, Zero-depth swimming pool and play features

  • Concession stand

  • Multi-purpose party room

  • Sand volleyball court

  • Two lit tennis courts

  • Playground equipment

  • Pavilion

  • Concrete walking/jogging track (7 laps = 1 mile)

  • Little Free Library


West End (access via West Point Dr.) 

  • Two large party decks

  • Picnic tables

  • Benches

  • Water fountain

  • Grilling stations

  • Available during pool off-season


Community Center, Senior Center & Library

  • Rooms, including a large auditorium, available for rental for parties and gatherings 

  • Location of various recreation classes and programs

  • Library operated by Harris County 


Friends Park

Established 2007



  • Designed specifically as a passive park

  • Park enjoys a lush landscape with ample seating

  • Several seating arbors

  • Paved walkway

  • Signature clock tower


Huffington Park

Jennie Elizabeth Hughes Park

  • Covered "Front Porch" Shade Structure with Rocking Chairs

Judson Park

Liberty Hill

College St. at Northwestern

Established 1976



  • Gateway entrance announcing "Welcome to West University Place

  • Dedicated as a park in 1976 as part of West University Place's bi-centennial celebration

Recreation Center

  • Heated, indoor fitness and instructional pool

Scout House

  • Primarily a scout meeting place during the week

  • Available for rentals on the weekends


Whitt Johnson Park
