West University Place – May 18, 2021 – Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital has been a longtime supporter of Friends of West University Parks. They have once again stepped up and showed their support by becoming the first ever sponsor for the newly opened Youth Fitness Challenge Course, part of the redevelopment of the east end of West U’s popular Colonial Park. The challenge course is an outdoor obstacle course and fitness destination that connects people of all ages and backgrounds to socialize with their family and friends while getting more fit. Designed to engage children and families – together – the challenge course is a great way to encourage multi-generational fitness and recreation. The three-year Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital sponsorship is acknowledged by a custom sign at the entrance to the challenge course.
Friends Executive Director, Donna LaMond, says “We are so thrilled to have Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital become the first ever sponsor of this new high profile, unique addition to the Colonial Park playground and to the City of West University Place in general.”
A ribbon cutting and grand opening ceremony for the new playground was held on January 29. The new challenge course is being enjoyed daily by children and their families.
