Get ready Campers!  Courtney and Scott Archer and Anne and John Freeman are busy working on making the fourth annual Fathers & Flashlights event EVEN BETTER ! ! !


The annual urban campout on the fields surrounding West University Elementary School will take place on October 23 and 24, 2010. Families who are West U or Southside residents or zoned to attend West University Elementary School are invited to attend.

Campers will enjoy a smorgasbord of activities including arts and crafts, outdoor games, rock wall, moon walks, live music, dinner, fun snacks, catch-and-release fishing, star-gazing, over-night camp out and breakfast.

Priority registration for returning campers will begin on August 17, 2010 with new camper  registration beginning on August 24.  The event raised $37,000 net for West U parks in 2009 and the goal is to exceed that amount this year.  The 2009 event was sold out with a waiting list. 

Registration forms and information on being an underwriter or sponsor can be picked up and turned in at the West University Place Recreational Center at 4210 Bellaire. Starting August 17, registration forms can also be downloaded here.   Cost is $45 for fathers and $40 per child.
